Learn Baiao Drum Beat

The baiao is a popular style of music that originated from the northeast of brazil. It features a bass drum pattern that is similar to, but slightly different than the samba.

This is a really fun style of music to play and practice. Once you learn some of these patterns, you'll begin to notice them in many popular styles of music, included rock and funk.

When playing these exercises, pay close attention to the sticking pattern written above the staff for examples 4 to 6. Slow things down if you need to in order to get the sticking sequence right.
