If you are a beginner to the drums and are looking for the perfect drum program to help you develop the skills necessary to become a successful drummer, look no further.

This is a review of the Mike Michalkow Drumming System.

First off, the most important thing to become a great drummer is practice. In my experience, this is one of the few programs that cover not only practicing, but how to practice efficiently so that you are not just wasting your time smacking your drums and cymbals with your drum sticks.

Basically this program gives you the most important tool; the know how to practice with a direction and purpose.

With twenty DVDs, fifteen CDs and five workbooks, this program may seem a bit overwhelming at first. Before you begin hyperventilating, take a moment to relax and think; this program covers every topic needed to properly learn to play the drums. The drums are extensive, and there are a ton of subjects to cover, from practicing to exercises and rudiments. Now that you have taken that into consideration, the number of materials should seem a lot more manageable.

Mike Michalkow's Drumming System teaches with a fluent mixture of varying teaching styles, each catering to specific types of learners. Whether you learn by sight, hearing, or application, this set has you covered, as you will be subjected to all three learning styles. This is accomplished by use of provided MP3 versions of the lessons, as well as by use of the workbook and video system.

Each technique is demonstrated and then, more importantly, picked apart, broken down, and explain thoroughly. This assures that the user learns the technical aspects without excessive, unneeded bloat.

Don’t like metal?

That’s okay, this set also teaches punk, blues, jazz and Latin drumming among various other styles. This is to assure the user develops a well rounded skill set.

Another helpful aspect of this system is that the lessons are each detailed in the workbooks, including the sheet music and limb designation.

The most impressive portion of this program is that if you have any trouble with any of the lessons, there is a live support network of professional musicians to help answer any and all questions, walking you through step by step.

Ok. Even GREAT drumming courses has their downsides. So what are they?

The downsides to this program are very few, but they may or may not be a deal breaker for you depending on your preferred learning schedule. This system is fairly lengthy, so it may take more time to complete than other drumming programs available on the market. This does mean more information but sometimes, depending on your goal, that can be a bit too much.

The second drawback is coinciding to the first, and was mentioned earlier in the review. There are a lot of materials. Once more, this can mean more thorough learning, if that is what you prefer. However, it can also mean that you end up with an overly bloated version of what you really desire.

With a moderate price tag, this system is great for beginners who are willing to take the time to learn all the aspects of drumming, or for drummers who want to hone their talents.
